JOHANNESBURG – ANC stalwart Mavuso Msimang says the commitment made by Secretary General Fikile Mbalula is what convinced him to retract his resignation from the party.

Msimang says Mbalula promised him that the governing party would get rid of corrupt members and leaders.

He says the party will not allow those implicated in the Zondo Commission to represent the party in the upcoming general elections.

“For the first time, the SG of the ANC has committed the top leadership to making that none of the people with criminal records, and in particular none of the people who were fingered in the Zondo Commission for which so much money was paid by taxpayers, will be allowed to represent the organisation in next year’s national and provincial elections,” Msimang said.

“That to me was a game changer, because all the time its been other people calling for this to be done.”
